          Short, adaptable combo with balance

            Yummy Tummy!

This class puts together abdominal conditioning/belly-lates, tummy pop technique, creative camels and reverse camels. It ends with a cool down.

Chest slide layering drill (with warm up)

                  Rotating choo choo shimmy

A cute little choo choo variation! Taken from the longer Advanced Routine-ette workshop,

Blending moves together- umis, 8s and circles

Taken from the longer class "Drills and Conditioining 1- Juicy Hipwork" this is a great drill to help you out with deepening your choreography sequences. It can also be great prep for improvisation as well as working as a good old hipwork drill.

Musical Interpretation: Quanun Question and Answer

Taken from the full workshop choreography "A Tribute to Samia Gamal", this short class teaches you about how to listen for "question and answer" solo sections in the music. Here I give an example of how it works with the quanun in classical style Egyptian music. The quanun has a vibrating quality to it, so we often use shimmy techniques when it appears in the music as a solo.

                        Bound and Unbound Hip Movements

Taken from the longer class "Drills and Conditioining 1- Juicy Hipwork", this section advances your creative hip work to make is more nuanced and expressive. Perfect for dancers looking to deepen their musical interpretation skills.

Musical Interpretation: Accordion Question and Answer

Taken from the full workshop choreography "A Tribute to Samia Gamal", this short class teaches you about how to listen for "question and answer" solo sections in the music. Here I give an example of how it works with the accordion in classical style Egyptian music.

                            Tribute to Samya Gamal: Choreography

My own original choreography to a wonderfully cinematic piece of music "Tribute To Samia Gamal" from Yasmina of Cairo's album "Aheb Masr". I encourage you to learn this routine and really find your own character! Use your facial expression, have fun with the costuming and transform your self into a film star. I'll guide you through the changes in mood and feel of the song to help you explore your character. Learn about the different sections and instruments and how to interpret them in order to deepen your understanding of Egyptian music and dance overall.

You can purchase the album on CD from several websites, including: bellydanceboutique.co.uk, faridadance.com, dahlal.com and ameraspalace.com.au.
